Saturday, July 24, 2010, one ex police personnel, PC 3721 Ryanneyzan bin Haji Mohammad was brought before the Magistrate’s Court, Bandar Seri Begawan on four counts of offences under Section 6(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).

Deputy Public Prosecutor, Hjh Anifa Rafiza bte Hj Abd Ghani informed the Court that investigation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau revealed that the defendant on four different occasions, corruptly obtained a sum of BND$15.00 (Brunei Dollars Fifteen), BND$20.00 (Brunei Dollars Twenty), BND$10.00 (Brunei Dollars Ten)and BND$10.00 (Brunei Dollars Ten), from three different foreign men respectively. The gratification was as an inducement or reward for not to take action against the said foreign men for contravening the Road Traffic Regulations under the Road Traffic Act (Chapter 68).

No plea was taken from the defendant. The Magistrate ordered for the defendant to be released on court bail for the sum of BND$5000.00 (Brunei Dollars Five Thousands or one local surety. The Magistrate fixed the case for further mention on the 9th day of August 2010 at 9 am.
